Sylan is in Tydal municipality in Trønderlag, approx. 10 km south-east of Trondheim Airport, Værnes and 80 km north of Røros. There are many opportunities to stay overnight in the surrounding villages, including camping sites, pitch sites for motorhomes, small farms offering overnight accommodation as well as hotels.

There are many opportunities to stay overnight in the surrounding villages, including camping sites, pitch sites for motorhomes, small farms offering overnight accommodation as well as hotels.
There are trail starting points at Nedalshytta mountain cabin hostel. Nedalshytta is situated approx. 17 kilometers east of Stugudal. Start from the regional 705 road in the centre of Stugudal. There is also a starting point from Sankåvika, approx. 20 km north-east of Ås in Tydal. Take local road 705 from the centre of Ås i Tydal, follow Østbyvegen road until Esandvegen road. Then follow the signs to Sankåvika. Esandvegen is a toll road. You can pay by card.
