The Arctic fox is the most endangered mammal in Scandinavia. Therefore, the Arctic fox is protected to help ensure its survival. Automatic feeders are placed at various points in the mountains to ensure that food is available when there is little food to find.
The hope is that in the future the Arctic fox will be able to fend for itself.
It is vital that the Arctic fox is not disturbed. The Norwegian authorities, therefore, recommend that you do not go closer than 300 meters to an Arctic fox.
